Beaching Around During a Pandemic:

Writer's picture: Sylvia M.Sylvia M.

So let me just say this has been one heck of a Year. After being under lock down in New York for months, the Summer hit and now it was "What to do?" New York Summers are always amazing but this time it has been somber due to the Pandemic. Many were in fear to come out their homes and minimizing contact with other human beings. Which I think is so impossible as we need each other to thrive.

Anyhow, I am one who needs to be around nature and water. I didn't want this Summer 2020 to go by without visiting a beach. So I decided to do something I've never done before and visit my local beach called Orchard Beach located in the Bronx. Contrary to it's reputation of being super dirty it was surprisingly clean! Honestly truly I had no desire to get in the water but I wanted to soak up some Vitamin D.

It also made me realize how fortunate many of us who travel. You see there are native New Yorkers from the Bronx who have never been on a plane let alone seen blue waters and super clean beach. For many locals Orchard Beach is all they know and honestly as long as you are surrounded by family, friends, love that is all that matters. This experience gave me a different perspective and was rather humbling. I had great time and completed my mission and that was get a tan. :)
