Sober Relationships

Its been a minute... But I am back and this break from writing as been sponsored by Doing some more living, learning, and of course exploring. Also its Valentines day weekend so here we are!!!

Anyway, I was thinking about the current state of relationships in 2026 specifically romantic relationships. I was thinking if you can proceed into a relationship sober minded, there is a high chance it will lasts. Here me out...

The definition of sober is to not be intoxicated. You can be intoxicated in relationships which usually can go sour fast, because you are drawn in by someones physical attributes, lifestyle preferences, commonalities. But when you take a deep look at all those things that can lure you into making unwise decisions with this person. Everyone knows how sex also changes people especially if you are having sex outside of marriage. God knew what he was doing when he said no sex before marriage... thats awhole other topic!!!

Sober minded relationships allows you to get to the core of who the person is without all the messy stuff. You get past the physical attraction and simply respect the person as a human being. Getting to the root of what makes them who they are? You know having the wisdom to understand the person you are communicating without formulating opinions or having hidden agendas. If we can just stop looking at what can we can gain from someone and just appreciate them for who they are. That includes not trying to control them or having this idea of who they should be.

I have this thought that humans are just over thinkers and we need to stop over thinking or assuming!!! What if we just explore giving people the room to be who they truly are when noone else is watching. You will get the best out of person when you offer love and grace. In order to get to the heart of a person it truly starts with you!!!
