The Road to Zero Waste Living...

Writer's picture: Sylvia M.Sylvia M.

The best way to describe living more sustainable is minimizing the use of things that cause more harm than good to the environment and to ourselves. How do we do that? Awareness. So the other day my sister friend Jen gifted me this travel size zero waste cutlery in the picture below. It comes with ( chopsticks, fork, spoon, butter knife, and straw, straw cleaner.) Let me tell you my excitement, I was too excited and very grateful she knows my lifestyle! You see for some time now I've been on a journey of living zero waste. So you ask what is that? It's giving up single use of plastic, reducing waste, focusing more on going green. Here is my take on it. God gave us dominion over the Earth and it is our duty to take of it. The goal is to lower the consumption of waste, reuse, recycle. If you are someone who likes take away food or even now where out door dining they give you plastic forks ( which are not being recycled) bring your own and or ask for stainless steel utensils. My zero waste kit will be my new item in my purse lol. Here are some ways to make a difference below.

5 ways you can contribute to the cause:

  1. SAY NO to the usage of plastic utensils ( plastic period) especially if its not BPA Free

  2. BYOSB ( Bring your own shopping bags)

  3. Thrift / Second hand or do clothes swap with your friends ( just take it to the cleaners or local tailer for cleaning and or resizing)

  4. Recycle

  5. Adopting minimalism living ( See my post on "living as a minimalist")
